TV AND MEDIA MADNESS; LET'S INTERVIEW AN IDIOT

INTERVIEW AN IDIOT -- DESPERATE OR DELIBERATE DUMBING DOWN OF AMERICA

What is with the media and news these days and who they interview on TV?

By Del Albright

A major wildfire whips through a neighborhood and leaves a path of destruction.  The TV news reporter grabs the first numb nut they can find to get an "interview."  Naturally the interview is meaningless most of the time as the interviewee has no clue about firefighting, or power shut offs, or the politics of his/her town, let alone how a fire behaves.

Then we have a political crisis of national proportions and the TV news person grabs the first available sports celebrity for an interview.   Oh, finally, someone who understands national politics!  NOT!

We get bombarded by bad information.  Daily. And I won't even get into the social media networks here...whew, that would take a college thesis to cover.

My message here is simple: don't listen to the media or pay much attention to who gets interviewed (or not) on TV. Do your own homework.  Read literature from credible sources.  Watch the news for the weather (which is never right) or the ball game scores.  But don't think the news is any longer the news.

Now there are exceptions.  I'm sure you have sources with credible reporters.  Cool.  I'm having trouble finding them.  Even my favorite news shows pick out idiots, ball players or the ill-informed to interview on TV about most anything. Seriously?

Think for yourself.  Do your own research on important subjects.  Talk to real experts (like fire chiefs or police experts) about emergency matters.  Listen to the credible sources; don't be swayed by phony TV.
