OUR PARTNERS AND SPONSORS

WE ARE ABLE TO HELP YOU BECAUSE OF THESE SPONSORS/PARTNERS.

Buy ONLY from Businesses that Support Our Trails.

By Del Albright

A key component of having access to trails is having businesses that support our sport and keep us in products and new innovations for our motor toys.  We must do our part and keep them thriving for us.  Here is now.  BUY ONLY from businesses you know are doing something for the sport. Donating to raffles.  Being members of groups/clubs.  Putting organizational logos on their business website.

MEGA FIRE GENERATION IS HERE!

WELCOME TO THE (UNNECESSARY) MEGA-FIRE GENERATION Living with Wildfire  By Del Albright, Retired Fire Chief (NOTE: originally published in 2020, but the situation has gotten worse instead of better. I offer this up again so we can all be part of a better and safer future). 25-30 years ago, a 10,000 – 15,000-acre fire was a huge conflagration. Now, we regularly experience 100,000 - 400,000-acre fires.   I would like to offer an explanation based on over 30 years of government service, including 26 years with the fire service, and on my beginning my fire career with a Master’s Degree founded in Prescribed Burning.   NO!  It is not just global warming (climate change). NO!  It is not understaffed or ill-trained firefighters. NO!  It is not Mamma Nature getting even with our urban sprawl. NO!  It is not careless campers or hunters. NO!   It is not kids with matches.   YES! It is a combination of many things, but mo...

Four E's of Protecting Access

Proven Formula to Protect Access and Save Trails By Del Albright Saving (and sustaining) a trail system, protecting access and keeping our off-pavement motorsports alive and well boils down to a proven formula: Engineering, Education, Enlisting and Enforcement. In the simplest of terms, that means 1) design it right; 2) let people know the rules and how to help; 3) get involvement from as many and varied users as you can; and 4) use trail patrols and if needed, law enforcement officers to ensure the rules are followed.  I am borrowing from the fire service all over the country with their fire prevention programs that rely on the three E's -- Engineering, Education and Enforcement.  In fire prevention, you design (engineer) a building, house or sub-division in such a way as to minimize the chances of fire.  You then educate folks about preventing fires with signs, letters, commercials, school programs and whatever it takes.  Then, if that doesn't work, yo...
