BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY GETS THE EYE

Besides capturing feather detail, bird photography requires the bird's eye to capture the viewer.  The eyeball must be in focus, and in a perfect world, looking at the camera.  Now that makes a pic!

Even a flying bird is more interesting with the eye in focus.

Tripods are crucial tools for birds on limbs and such. Flying birds just require a good, solid hold, possibly a monopod, and patience. Try to have the bird flying into the frame or the bush bird looking towards the camera or into the frame.

Practice makes perfect. Keep shooting until you figure out what works for you.

Stacie Albright Wins W.E. ROCK Photo Contest

Stacie won a rock crawling photo contest (with me as Runner Up winner). She was on the course with the drivers and all the action of this very hard core rock buggy event. Very cool. No, she didn’t win any money, but she can claim some (more) fame now. Cute.

Reno, NV, Cameras and Photography

My latest photography is of the famous and mystical Sand Tufa of Mono Lake, CA. Being there is somewhere between Disneyland and a dreamworld of structural fantasy. You won't believe this "rock" and sand formations along the sandy shoreline of Mono Lake.
