CENSORSHIP AT ALL TIME HIGH

"CENSORBOOK" IS MY NEW NAME FOR THE "BOOK." Censorship is at an all-time on Facebook.  I've never seen anything like it in my decade of concentrated social networking and posting. A couple weeks ago FB took down my viral post (it was over 60,000 Shares) about Welcome to the Unnecessary Mega-Fire Generation.  They said I "violated community standards" and made people "feel unsafe" on the Book.  Unsafe?  Because I spoke the truth and articulated how radical environmental groups have imposed excessive restrictions on how we manage our forests and rangelands? Then yesterday after growing to 172,000 members, FB yanked down the group dedicated to re-opening California.  See a pattern here?  We are just over a month away from the most controversial election in history.  Things like my mega-fire post fly in the face of CA government rhetoric. Things like Re-Open CA flies in the face of CA government rhetoric. And of course, CA go...

WILDFIRES NOT AT HISTORIC HIGH

MEGA FIRES: Living with pandemics, riots, and wildfire. By Del Albright The following link is to a great article from Jon Miltimore of the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE), which clearly points out how forest fires are NOT at some historic high (number of fires and acres burned). The 1930s and 1940s were the big number years.   But more importantly, he drives home these key points:   California mega fires stem largely from decades-long mismanagement of forests; Current troubling tendency to simply blame apocalyptic blazes on climate change; The yearly average (burned acreage) between 1926 – 1952 was several times higher than the peaks today. Pandemics, riots, and wildfires are nothing new; they’ve been around as long as humans have.   He really captured my attention when he pointed out the work of economist Robert Higgs ( Crisis and Leviathan ) who said when crises come, “governments almost certainly will   gain new p...

MEGA FIRES, PART 2 -- CONTROLLED BURNING

MEGA FIRES PART II: CONTROLLED BURNING, The Down and Dirty. By Del Albright (NOTE: This is long but sharable, with Peer Review Team listed at the end. Part 1 of Mega Fires is here: https://delalbright.blogspot.com/2020/09/welcome-to-unnecessary-mega-fire.html ). Controlled Burning, or also called Prescribed Fire, is a controversial tool for firefighters these days. Controversial politically, but not technically to any wildland firefighter – it is a necessary fuel management technique.   It is a controlled prescription that results in a targeted application that reduces wildfire danger and smoke and a cooler fire that promotes vegetation rejuvenation by not destroying the soil. Here is the “down and dirty.” The takeaways from this article are: 1.   Prescribed fire produces less air pollution than wildfires with significantly less particulate matter (pm) – depending on which study you believe.   2.   Controlled Burning helps reduce the risk of wi...
