FISHING FOR A RE-CREATED SPIRIT

LAKE TIME; BREAK TIME; REFRESHING LIFE GET OUTSIDE, DO SOMETHING, STAY ALIVE By Del Albright Just being outside, no matter what you are doing, can sometimes be the answer to your prayers! Fresh air, sunshine, and lollipops  -- whatever you find, the act of being outside can breathe new life into yours. In my case, I love to go fishing and boating. Open-air, views of the sky, and the lolling of a boat will do wonders for my nap time, too. The wifey finds relief from stress the same way, but also just loves to tend to her garden.  Find your sweet spot and do the same.  Get your spirit re-created by being outside when you can. Caught this Black Crappie while bass fishing. This is Josh Parris, my bass fishing buddy, and teacher for a recent trip.  Great guy.

LONG RANGE RIFLE SHOOTING TIPS

DIALING IN YOUR GUN/SCOPE  7 SIMPLE TIPS FOR STRETCHING YOUR SHOOTING. By Del Albright I have 60 years of shooting experience, but only recently have I stretched out to 1000 yards.  I learned some simple tips to help you do the same. First, there can be no doubt that practice makes perfect.  You have to practice with your rifle of choice and master your trigger pull and eliminate the flinch. A good scope is essential. Dialable turrets are key to small target center punching at long distances. Here, in simple form, are the tips I can pass on from taking Dan Angel's Firearm Instruction near Willows, CA ( https://angelsfirearmsinstruction.com/ ). 1. If you're a hunter, use the gun and scope you will hunt with. 2. Get a turret type scope, 3, or 4 power by 14 - 20 power variable. 3. Pick a bullet/brand and stick with it.  Know the ballistics (unless it just won't shoot in your gun.) 4. Master the 100-yard range.  Yes, 100-yards. Start there...

TAKE THE TIME TO FIND SOME TIME

LIFE IN THE SLOW LANE By Del Albright Sometimes we need to be in the slow lane. As we get along in life, we realize how fast time really does fly.  Kids and cousins and family grow up right in front of our eyes.  It was just yesterday... My suggestion is to take just a little time, now and then, to really slow down.  Yes, smell the roses and the wildflowers.  Do something that puts you in low gear -- the slow gear.  Don't let the little moments pass you by until the next thing you know, you're old.  :) ## Del

REMEMBERING AND TREASURING OUR PAST

STORIES FROM GRANDPA By Del Albright Now that I am well into being a grandpa, I can attest to the fact that I'm glad I listened to my elder family members when I was younger.  I learned so much. Now that is not to say it was all right, or good, or the solution for me.  But listening to "grandpa" gave me a perspective in life that at the same time gave me a head start. The family moments of listening to elders tell stories or offer life lessons are precious.  Now I take pride in remembering and telling stories my grandfather really did tell me. Life is about passing along what you know and what you've learned. Remember and treasure your past -- even if it all was not great, you still learned from it.  It helped make you who you are. ## Del

DO NOT LET "THEM" CHANGE OUR STORY

KEEP OUR HISTORY ALIVE DO YOUR PART TO PRESERVE THE PAST SO THE FUTURE WILL KNOW By Del Albright The media is alive with news of our history and culture either being torn down or changed. It's time for this to STOP. Please do your part to ensure those you love know our story and our history.  Do not let "them" change our past.  We must learn from our past or "we are doomed to repeat it." It's terrible to see national treasures or mementos of our past struggles torn down for some stupid current fad or cause.  No, we no longer use "snake bite" kits but we sure did in the 1970s like the pic in this blog.  Share our past. Preserve our history for others.  Teach children of our true past. Be part of keeping America, America. ## Del

BE READY FOR FIRE SEASON

FIRE SEASON IS NOT FAR OFF  By Del Albright Don't wait.  Be ready for fire season if you live in a wildfire area.  Now is the time before it's too late and you're evacuated. Make up your escape lists (what to take with you when you have to leave home in a hurry) and post them NOW in your bedroom, bathroom, where ever it makes sense to you.  Put your critical stuff in a safe box or fireproof safe. Review guidelines from recognized fire authorities in your area. Make sure you have one good "escape" vehicle prep'd and ready to save the day (go bag, water, good tires and brakes, space blanket, etc.) And finally, have a family plan for linking up or staying in touch in case cell towers are down. ## Del
